This wine is produced by the Cortonesi family, renowned for their Brunello di Montalcino. The Leonus is made from declassified Brunello grapes grown in a single vineyard in Montalcino, making it an excellent value wine that is often referred to as a baby Brunello. This Rosso Toscano is juicy and fresh, full of red cherries, and dark berries on the nose. It has great structural balance and is a perfect everyday wine. Because of it’s marked acidity it pairs well with tomato sauce and herbs. It will be the perfect match for pizza or lasagna, antipasti or roasted meats.
"This has become a personal favourite, offering lots of Italian character for the money. It nicely straddles being both juicy and structured. The nose is lifted with currant/raspberry fruit, fresh herbs/rosemary, rose-like florality and modest oak. It is medium bodied, smooth yet lively with easy tannin and a slightly bitter finish. Excellent length."
