Coming from a cool region in the northern part of the southern Rhone (the Grignan AOC was formerly called Coteaux du Tricastin), the Grignan les Adhemar le Devoy checks in as a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Carignan that was completely destemmed and aged for six months in concrete tanks. It has terrific notes of forest floor, cracked pepper, flowers and darker berry fruits as well as medium-bodied richness, an elegant, supple texture and notable purity of fruit. It’s not a heavyweight, yet has considerable charm and appeal.

The Arnoux family has been growing the grapes in Vacqueyras since 1717. Over the past 300 years the estate grew to the current 40 ha. They practise the "lutte raisonée" approach to farming, so their wines are always focused and concentrated. This wine has a fruity, peppery nose with a touch of vanilla. It has a long and round finish.
2019 signals another impressive vintage in the Rhône Valley. Fruit and warmth best define 2019, a glorious millésime solaire that offers intricately structured wines with dazzling energy and balance.

"A deep, dense. spicy and smoke-edged nose here, there's menthol elements as well as red cherries, dark chocolate and tobacco. A lovely texture on the palate, immediately inviting and enveloping, drawing you in with the sumptuous concentrated fruit flavours and backbone of oak spice, liquorice and kirsch. Such a complex wine, with so much ageing potential. Could have gone a point higher in score but I think it will improve with a few more years in bottle and last up to thirty or forty. Open and decant if possible at least two hours before serving. A blend of 60-65% Syrah, 15-20% Grenache and Mourvèdre and touch of Carignan depending on the vintage."
